Bring on some good stuff
Oct. 13th, 2008 08:30 pmAnd now, for the sake of making this something besides the Operation Rebuild Anna's Bosom Show, and because I'm way too damned grumpy, a list of some things which don't suck:
How about you all? Tell me about some things that don't suck.
- Even if the weather sucks with a mighty and vociferous sucking, I can come home to a cozy fleece-and-flannel blanket, and a spouse who will make me hot chocolate. Good hot chocolate, with real marshmallows, because she refuses to buy packet cocoa.
- Friends who bring me amusing audiobooks to listen to and therefore make me expand my reading exposure.
sksouth, I'm lookin' at you. - Related to previous, Louis L'Amour's Trail Mix Vol. 1, my first introduction to works by this author. This particular audiobook is narrated by Willie Nelson, who's amazingly apt for the material.
- Friends who bring me new music to listen to. Again,
sksouth, most notably for getting me interested in buying Angelique Kidjo, Habib Koite, and Gaelic Storm. Also
technoshaman, for relentless plugging of Gaia Consort.
mamishka, for encouraging
solarbird and me to actually go see Gaia Consort.- Jam yesterday, 'cause yeah, I needed that. Thank you,
pocketnaomi, for bringing pie!
mamishka again, for playing Star Wars Trivial Pursuit, at which she and I are still fairly evenly matched.- Getting to go to
kathrynt and
llachglin's house over the weekend, to celebrate their little girl Lillian turning 2. I am in awe of that kid every time I see her. - Kind lurkers who leave me links to surprise Alan Doyle video, because few things cannot be helped by addition of The Doyle. Thank you again, Alicia!
- Even on days when work happens to annoy me, it is always good to remember that I do actually have a job.
- Continually photogenic kitties.
- Friends who, even though they now live in an entirely different city from me, still remember to email me on their iPhones in the middle of a Great Big Sea show. I wish I could have been there with you,
fredpdx! - Even in a year where my own ability to produce new words has been sorely challenged, there yet remain an abundance of nifty books for me to read. I still have to keep skewing the national reading average, doncha know.
- Forthcoming spinoff series Caprica, because you betcha, I'm going to keep paying attention to anything that the BSG crew puts out once BSG is over.
- Continuing decent medical support as I inch my way towards having a bi-boobular chest again. ;)
- Nice, soothing chamomile tea.
- And, because many things are also improved by zombies, a nifty little short film about how young love can't be stopped even after a zombie apocalypse.
How about you all? Tell me about some things that don't suck.
