As y'all probably saw over on [livejournal.com profile] solarbird's journal, I did make it home successfully yesterday and the serious rest and recuperation has now commenced. My LJ posts over the next couple weeks are therefore likely to be kind of random! However, I wanted to express my gratitude to these heroes of the revolution:

[livejournal.com profile] spazzkat, for bringing me sunflowers in a vase, even if the cats think they are Too Damned Interesting;

[livejournal.com profile] gamera_spinning, for the Eddie Izzard Unrepeatable DVD that showed up at my door today;

[livejournal.com profile] risu (and by extension [livejournal.com profile] kathrynt), for Season 2 of the X-Files DVD sets, as well as the Sharing Knife books by Lois McMaster Bujold, which mark the first Bujold books I actually own, I believe;

[livejournal.com profile] sksouth, for bringing me over a boatload of music and books on DVD with which to entertain myself;

My siblings, who also sent me a lovely bunch of flowers;

And most of all [livejournal.com profile] solarbird, who has been very assiduous in making me take my meds on time, as well as getting up at regular intervals to wander around the house and do my range of motion exercises. My spouse? She rocks.

ETA 5:48pm: Wait wait, there's more! Paul just came home with another Amazon package for me out of the mail--this one courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] mamishka, who sends Regarding Henry, which I have been wanting for ages. Aw. <3

And, my teammates from work sent a big bag full of tasty chocolate goodies. Aw!

Thank you, everybody. <3

Hey... I'm not sure if you'd be interested, but www.heatherdale.com ... Let me know if you would like and I can ship you a copy of her newest cd. At least, once I get it in my hot little hands.

I know I don't usually send you anything, but this seems worth it. If you're willing to trust me that far that is. ;)

Glad it arrived. They say humor is the best medicine.

[livejournal.com profile] rougewench and I have tickets to Eddie Izzard tomorrow in Kansas City.

Glad you're home and hope you feel better soon.

hugs and dragonflies, of course.

and chocolate of some sort **next** weekend, which looks like actual road-trip at last.

very glad you are home, resting up, and **doing** range-of-motion exercises which we all know are important and beneficial.

oh, did I mention chocolate? and pie, too, hopefully. ^_^

Oh definitely!

And I really like Heather Dale's music, but I don't know if you will or not. :)

Still, I've put my order in for my copy and an extra I can send your way once it arrives. It might take a bit though.

you might like Todd Butler (whose BC Song maybe I should sing for you sometime when savage poltical commentary is called for), or Valdy... as you are knowing, culture flows in both directions.

oh, there is of course kd lang's Big Bone Gal, but that usually gives me the teary sniffles.

Yaaay for friends and caring and fun stuff! *hugs* ROM's are GOOD THINGS(tm), though they do sting - so my mom told me. ^^

I think you'll really like The Sharing Knife books -- there's likely going to be another after these three, but they're good solid stories on their own.

Plus, deeply sweet, and very romantic in their way too.

Wow. I haven't been keeping up with my friends list since Gareth was born, and I've missed a lot of news. I had no idea you were dealing with this stuff again.

Wishing you a speedy and complete recovery, and pleasure in the comforts you've gathered.

nothing like a good old-fashioned scavenger hunt, is there?

am in mind of casing the various shops and stores on my way down from the border, and one of them will surely have reasonable simulacra of chocolate pie.

does Friday early afternoon work for you? am in mind of a three-day road-trip weekend, since it'll be me last chance at quality time in the Brier Patch for a while.

on the whole pie vs. cake debate, pie always wins, but only if it's good pie. evil pseudo-pie never wins (would, in that case, rather have plain rice-cakes washed down with Suntory).

hope your range-of-motion is coming along okay. also, there was a Reuters story today about the benefits of calcium supplementation post-surgery, aimed at supporting one's bone density (which otherwise tends to be reduced by estro-blockers such as Tamoxifen). IIRC, the bottom line was that there was a predispositional risk to bone cancer if one did not keep one's bone-density up; so from that, i draw the lesson that pie should always be served with cheese. which goes to show that all those Connecticut Yankess were right, after all. //^_^\\

enjoy the spring-like convergence zone weather! i am -- have my laundry flapping away on the back-porch line, to get that yummy breezy scent to it.
