So y'know how I was going all wtf-esque a few weeks ago when we had that spurt of wacky weather? Well, guess what it's doing tonight?
SNOWING. In SEATTLE. In APRIL. This is what is known in these parts as "fucked up". According to our article we have up today, it hasn't snowed this late in the year around here in something on the order of 30 years.
On my way home, it was still rain while I was downtown and walking to my bus stop. By the time my bus got to Lake City and 120th or so, it was starting to snow. Once we hit Kenmore, it was snowing in earnest.
It's thundersnow, too! I was walking up to the Murk from the bus stop just a little bit ago, and BOOO-OOO-OOOO-OOOOOOM went the sky overhead, twice even. It's starting to accumulate in the yard, too, though not yet on the pavement. It's not quite cold enough. But I did note when I got off the bus that three guys in utility vests were pushing an apparently dead car up the little hill that comes up from Burke-Gilman to the traffic light at 61st--so I'm expecting that the road conditions around here are going to suck tonight.
And OH LOOK, we have asnow advisory ETA 7:17pm HEAVY SNOW WARNING!

Glad I don't have **your** driveway to deal with, just have to walk to/from the lads' truck tomorrow on our moderately hilly high-street for (Yay! Last!) Zappification.
Here, have a picture of pretty much what my back porch view is right now.
Boing, tilt,

Date: 2008-04-19 06:32 pm (UTC)I was in the car last night at 85th and 15th NW in Ballard (or Crown Hill, I guess) when the lightning flashed. I though for a second that a transformer on a power pole had blown. Then the thunder rolled through. All while my wipers were struggling with the heavy snow.
Sheesh!
PS: ceallaighgirl, is that avatar you at Wade's in Bellevue? Yay, you!

This planet is so fucked. Humans are a virus. :-P

Date: 2008-04-20 08:22 pm (UTC)When somebody gets around to inventing Weather Transfer Protocol, sure, fling some of that 75F action this way. Meanwhile, I'll just wait for May to get here. It SHOULD be warmer by then. I hope!

Date: 2008-04-20 08:24 pm (UTC)And they're saying we're supposed to be returning to warmer, more April-like patterns now. I should HOPE SO, with May on the imminent horizon. It's about time we got some actual SPRING this Spring!

Date: 2008-04-20 08:31 pm (UTC)Meh, the 10-day for Kenmore up on weather.com has a bunch of showers across the forthcoming week. I'm seriously ready for some sunshine now. But at least showers all week would be less schizoid than the weather we've been having lately!
