Well, this is ONE way of getting a manuscript noticed

So get this, folks: the fine folks at greatbigsea.com have just put out a call to the fans for photos of "great accomplishments". Any they accept will be used in the forthcoming video for the single "Walk on the Moon".

I just sent them the three photos solarbird took of me and the full manuscript for Faerie Blood back in 2005, 'cause yeah--finishing a novel? Definite walk on the moon.

If I can't get that book sold, having its manuscript show up in a Great Big Sea video wouldn't suck. ;)

I'm going to send in a picture of me and my car. I got myself from ten dollars in my pocket and about to be homeless (twice!) to having two months' worth of rent in the bank and a car (albeit a geriatric one) which I own free and clear.

If that's not an accomplishment, if that's not a Grand Achievement, I don't know what is.

(I also have a picture that I took of one of my wrists, in one piece, to motivate myself. I may send that one in, too.)

I have not yet heard the song in question, I think! At the last GBS show I was at, they did do the one about going straight to hell, but not "Walk On The Moon". So I must reserve judgment!

But yeah, super-cool promotion to get the attention of the fans. I will TOTALLY want to see this video now just to see what their final selections of photos will be.

Should be one of Frosty's videos from Ships and Dips. For some reason I can't get it to play right now, but it should be a pretty good version. I like the song, don't get me wrong...think it's absolutely beautiful. Just don't think it's the right choice for a first single off a new album.

We'll be sending a wedding photo from the weekend we saw the Boys three times *and* got married.

Some OKP folks gave us tickets for an extra night as a wedding present.

And now, looking at this vid--mmm, nice song indeed! I can't wait to hear the studio take. Though I agree it does lack a certain oomph to be the first single out of the gate; we'll have to see how the studio version sounds, I guess!
