Date: 2008-03-25 03:30 am (UTC)Having also seen the Star Trek thing, I can solidly say that it is a legitimate contender--got to see that at Worldcon, too, where they screened it on a big screen since George Takei is in it and he was a guest at the convention. It's a very solid story, even given the weird combination vibe I got off of it of "extremely well done fan production" and "OMG SULU THIS IS ACTUAL STAR TREK". ;)
What is remarkable to me about its presence on the Hugo list, though, is that it is in fact a fan production. That a fan production can go toe to toe with professional productions for the Hugo just fills me with great and abiding glee.
