Good question... right now, I'm waiting to see if I catch this COLD OF DOOM that P has right now. Don't want to spread that around, and Tuesday I go in for a procedure, so it'll be a while before I can get down there.

Okay, I'm watching the "Bad Juju" episode, and here are things that bug me:

1) The guy playing Mike is more of what I thought Fitzroy should look like.

2) Fitzroy should have at LEAST a bit of British accent left, don't you think?

3) Vicki's glasses aren't thick enough.

4) Mike needs to look more Italian and burly.

Henry is definitely way prettier in TV continuity than he is in the books, yeah. His lack of accent doesn't bug me, for the same reason that Angel no longer having an Irish accent never bugged me over in Buffy-and-Angel-land: i.e., if you live long enough somewhere, you'll pick up whatever the local accent is.

Heh, Mike looks pretty darned burly to me, and I dunno necessarily that he needs to look more Italian--I mean, sure, his last name is Celucci, but for all we know he's only Italian three generations back on his father's side. ;)

But I could deal with Vicki's glasses being thicker, yeah. They're already talking about how near-blind she's supposed to be, she should have glasses that clearly look like they're working hard to correct really fucked up vision, and not just being fashion accessories. (Even if they actually have good glasses technology these days so that you don't have to wear Coke bottle bottoms on your face...)

If I recall the books correctly, Celucci had thick black hair. And Henry should be shorter. And he wrote romance novels, not comic books.

Yeah, I remembered the romance novel thing after I looked up the series on Wikipedia--though I can kind of buy why they changed him over to writing graphic novels rather than romance novels. ;) That would, even today, play better in a book than it would on a TV show where they're presumably trying to hit as broad an audience as possible. And most people out there would sneer at the idea of a guy writing romances.

Especially if he's as pretty as the dude playing Henry.

I'm going to have to re-read the books, I think. I'm working on other Tanya Huffs I had waiting on my To Read shelf, but I'm going to put these on the queue.

Yeah, I don't remember the assistant chick at all; she's very likely a character they grafted in to try to appeal to younger women, I suppose. And possibly as a source for supernatural information--I mean, besides Henry--for Vicki.

I will, indeed, be at UWMC tomorrow. I'm going to have an MRI at noon, and then a follow-up appointment with Rad Onc following. If you wanted to come to the Rad Onc waiting room around noon:30ish, that'd work. I'd say I'll call you on my cell, but I left it at my sister's this evening, because I made the mistake of setting it up to charge on the computer desk. So, I won't get it back until her husband and my father bring my new couch up here. My sister decided that I needed a new one, incidentally, because mine sucks ass. Found a nice one with built-in recliners at Goodwill. I guess they're planning on bringing it up this weekend.

Getting over there during the day is difficult for me, unfortunately. I'd have to take the bus over from the Times (which is downtown) and back again, which would eat all the lunchtime I could spare. :( I'd better mail any tapes.

Hey Roger, if you have DirecTV, my Tivo is telling me that LMN (Lifetime Movie Network) is playing what I think is the pilot (it's one hour 47 minutes long) tomorrow morning at (get this) 11:39am.

Think that's channel 254.
