A catchup post!
Mar. 12th, 2007 10:06 pmTV shows based on decent book series seem to be the hot thing these days--and tonight,
risu and I checked out the premiere of Blood Ties, based on Tanya Huff's Victoria Nelson novels. Survey says: not half bad! Decent adaptation of the series, nobody was annoying, and Henry and Mike and Vicki are all quite easy on the eyes. More importantly, the essential aspects of their characters that I remember from the books all seem to be there. Liked this well enough to come back and check it out again next week. And now I'm way interested in bumping some of the Tanya Huff that's been languishing on my To Read shelf up the queue. ^_^
Meanwhile, I have these observations to make about a lunchtime errand run downtown:
#1: It is very strange to be walking through downtown Seattle while listening to the miniseries, Season 1, and Season 2 soundtracks of Battlestar Galactica. There I am walking along and suddenly OHNOES CYLONS! every time the iPod kicks into battle music.
#2: Lush is now open at Westlake Center, and it was necessary, yea, even a biological imperative, that I go in there and buy bath bombs for myself and
solarbird.
#3: On my way back to the Times, I passed a bus with a huge colorful ad on the side, with the words DAILY NONSTOP TO MAUI. For an instant I was stricken with the thought "HEY WAIT since when did the 70 go to Maui?!" Then I saw the other words about the airline farther down the side of the bus. Damn. ;)
spazzkat's observation? "Best bus route EVER."
Chiropractic appointments will continue for me for the next few weeks, and I am already feeling huge changes. I have slept amazingly well for the last couple of nights, way better than I have in well over a year. I have greatly improved range of motion in my neck, and suddenly both my bed and my chair at work feel a lot more comfortable. So two thumbs up on the new chiropractor. The only vaguely irritating thing about this entire process is that I haven't had much attention span for writing--I think because my system's taking a huge reset with all of this, and the muse is standing back going "Ooh, okay, you get all this done and I'll come back as soon as you're stable again."
Plus, doing the chiro means I get in extra walking. Yay!
Miles since the first: 29.7
Miles out of Hobbiton: 1833.5
Miles out of Isengard: 40.5
Miles to Minas Tirith: 745.5

Date: 2007-03-13 01:55 pm (UTC)yeah, but I betcha it's always late, always SRO, and takes the route that invariably jams. (Like the 26/28 local, all the way down Dexter and then up that little cutover to Aurora that takes forEVAR...)
(I'd stick a smiley there but you *know* it would be true if it existed...)

Date: 2007-03-14 10:44 pm (UTC)The only drawback is that the show's airing on *shudder* Lifetime, which has a sucktastic webpage up for it. (There's a distinct contrast between the site, which makes a point of sexxing up the characters, and the actual show, which does not.)
Anyway, they may rebroadcast it before Sunday, you might doublecheck...?

Date: 2007-03-15 03:14 am (UTC)The first hour of the premiere is viewable on iTunes for free, for what it's worth, if you want to at least check it out--that won't help for watching the second hour, I know, but it'll at least give you a chance to see whether it looks good to you.

Date: 2007-03-15 03:16 am (UTC)Well, the first hour of the premiere is available on iTunes for free. I realize this does not help with watching the second half of the premiere, but there's that at least, and hopefully enough to give you a chance to see if you'll actually like it...?
