And the other shoe drops
Sep. 16th, 2006 03:35 pmBantam also says no on Faerie Blood. Pretty much the same rejection letter I got for Lament, only phrased somewhat differently (except that this time, I got "very well written", not just "well written", which is kind of cool). C'est la vie. The plan now: get a new partial package together for Lament to go to Tor. Before I do that, I may have to do a fourth draft of the second chapter specifically, since I have some developing plans as to how to tighten the book up, and I should probably go ahead and do that before Lament goes back out. In the meantime, I think I'll send Faerie Blood to Baen next.
This was not a good way to start out the morning. Neither was trying to go to Bothell with
solarbird so we could renew the tabs on both of our vehicles--and missing the 12pm bus by about a minute. We saw it go RIGHT BY before we were able to get across the street to catch it. Then the next bus after that was ten minutes late, which was also annoying. But we did at least make it to Bothell in time to get to the licensing office before it closed, so we do at least have new tabs for both vehicles. And Dara was only a bit tuckered out by the excursion--getting her some lunch while we were still in downtown Bothell helped. And the weather is gorgeous, so that at least is a plus.
Plan for today: try to get something written, and bits of Lament edited as well. My recent thyroid wonkage needs to be overcome so I can get back into the groove. Also, to get Faerie Blood whipped up into an electronic submission to fire off to Baen, since I can do that easily this afternoon.
Friday miles: 3.8
Saturday miles: 2.55
Miles out of Hobbiton: 1366.4
Miles out of Rauros Falls: 57.4
Miles to Isengard: 426.6

Date: 2006-09-17 03:09 am (UTC)I also just discovered this place tonight, browsing around for other places I can submit stuff. They sound potentially interesting and very similar to Luna in terms of what they're looking for. If Baen says no, I may check their site again to see if they're still taking stuff at that point, and send them Faerie Blood next!

Sorry.
Date: 2006-09-17 02:30 pm (UTC)And what is "Bothell"? Suburb?
Re: Sorry.
Date: 2006-09-17 06:31 pm (UTC)Bothell is one of the small communities on the north side of Lake Washington, and a city in its own right, not just a suburb of Seattle. :)

Date: 2006-09-17 07:37 pm (UTC)Yes indeed. She and I did have a nice enough jaunt to Bothell--and we did actually make it there just in time to get the tabs renewed. And we had a nice little lunch afterwards at one of the cafes in Bothell's tiny downtown. We're going to the shops down at Lake Forest Park for the Farmer's Market today as well, for the first time since the accident!
