I'll say one (other) thing for Superman Returns--it's totally song-virused me with the John Williams soundtrack from Superman: The Movie. Which, I think, has always duked it out in my brain with Raiders of the Lost Ark for all-time favorite movie soundtrack. John Williams in his heyday, after all, was the man responsible for my adolescent dreams of playing just those sorts of movie soundtracks in symphony orchestras! And there haven't been very many movie soundtracks in my experience that have matched those and the original Star Wars soundtracks since. I can only think of three soundtracks that have really struck me as iconic and repeat listens for me since then: Gladiator, Master and Commander, and of course the phenomenal Lord of the Rings soundtrack.

Having a really slow day at work today, as is not really surprising given that it's a workday right between a weekend and a holiday. I strongly suspect that most of the team will be buggering off early. [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat already has--though he's not technically on my specific team, he's just in the same overall department. I didn't leave at the same time he did just because my specific team went out for a birthday lunch, and I'm not leaving quite yet just because I'm the New Girl and I don't want to seem too eager to bugger off from my shiny new job! So I'll be hanging out a little longer to take care of some things that I can get done, just because.

When I get home I shall resume working on getting the partial package for Lament together! And tomorrow, Splody Day!

In my lowly opinion, most people should bow down to John Williams for his movie themed music. Next in line would be Hans Zimmerman. Thirdly would be Howard Shore. I've been paying attention more to who does the musical score on some of my favorite movies, and John Williams' name has appeared rather often.
