Well, the showers that came through on Sunday during the latter half of the Street Fair have stayed with us for the last couple of days; I've had to take my umbrella into work to keep from getting soaked. I don't mind the rain for once; it's cooled things off considerably. But it would be nice to have things clear up by the weekend in time for Folklife! For which we have no solid plans yet. The I-937 petition folks were making very hopeful noises at [livejournal.com profile] solarbird about collecting signatures during Folklife as well, given how well she was doing at the Street Fair. She'll probably do that separately from our actual Attending Folklife(TM), though.

Tomorrow is our morale event to go over to Pacific Place and see The Da Vinci Code. It amuses me that at least two people in our group have complained that we are not going to see X3 instead, and my lead even was planning to jump ship and see the mutants, except they aren't out until Friday. Doh. ;) And afterwards, conveniently, Dara and [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat and I will be meeting up with [livejournal.com profile] sksouth for sushi! So tomorrow promises to be pretty enjoyable all around. I'll just have to get through the Longest Morning In The History of Time.

I have finished Laurie King's Locked Rooms; a post on it and The Game will be forthcoming. And I've started A Cup of Light, which was recommended to me a while back by [livejournal.com profile] jessicac; three chapters in so far, and I'm kind of liking it. "Palette cleansing" comes to mind as a way to describe the prose, like a good green tea. More on this later.

I think I actually want to see X3! Which is amusing to me, since I didn't see either of the previous movies . . .

Loving the rain; it's a good reminder to me that I'm not in Phoenix anymore. Heh.

Maybe I should organize a movie night or something. I'm far more likely to sit through movies if I'm with friends. On the other hand, X3's out this weekend, so I'm kind of out of time. Oops!

There was something about the desert that was damned beautiful (http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=151356199&size=l), even if in a more literal sense of those words than I originally meant. I don't think I'd want to live there, but I'm really glad I went. I love my Northwest rainforest too much to leave it, though.

Indeed--I am so going to Folklife! I haven't gotten around to digging through the schedule to decide which day(s) to go yet, so I should do that soon...

I really, really want to go back to Flagstaff. Elevation ~7,000 feet; it's about 150 mi north of Phoenix up in the mountains. It has trees and greenery and cooler/more temperate weather. And it's a hippie college town! In the mountains!
