Norwescon plans

Ten minutes before I was supposed to leave work yesterday, I got asked to stay late. Whee! Love the timing there. But ultimately, it wasn't too much of a problem since I'm going to be short on hours this week anyway thanks to Norwescon.

Speaking of which, solarbird is heading down there tonight, but spazzkat and I are heading down there tomorrow. So if y'all have anything you need to let me know about, be sure to do it NOW!

My plans for Norwescon: cruise the dealers' room as per usual. Maybe drop in on a panel or two. Watch the Masquerade. Hit the hotel's exercise room in the mornings since I won't be having my daily walk to and from work. Help Dara with proofreading the newsletter. Hang out a lot. Preferably with some of you local-type folks I don't normally hang out with--so if you're reading this and you'll be at the convention and you want to do lunch or dinner or something, yell!

Also: I will hit the hot tub. Work on beta-reading lyonesse's book. Work on writing my books. And maybe, if I have time, wedge in reading His Majesty's Dragon as well as rachelcaine's Chill Factor. It says something about how my mind works these days when I can take a lot of the things I'd usually do on a weekend anyway and do them at a hotel, and suddenly it becomes a vacation. The con atmosphere is really just a bonus. ;)

Well, this should be an amusing Saturday: Donna has pretty well decided that she needs to get ready for finals at WSU this weekend instead of going to the con, so I'll be chaperoning the girls myself.

Revised plan on discovering what Sunday was: rent car, attend Saturday only
Revised plan on discovering not enough money to rent car: take bus with two adults, two kids
Current plan: run in circles, scream and shout. :-)

Was trying to think of something witty to say to you before you left for the weekend, but my brain has other plans.

In other news, I finished re-reading the first Elfquest collectors book last night and started the other. Does that count as having something to say to you?

It does! So what's in those collectors volumes of EQ? I haven't been paying attention to those.

I think it's basically the ones like the first two you gave Sarah and I some time back that were in color, but the ones I have are in black and white. These are the ones that can be ordered from EQ.com, which is where I got them.

Ah okay, so it's "original EQ quest" stuff. I forget, is this the first EQ you've owned?

I've got the whole series. There are something close to 20 or so of the black 'n white books. I've had them for a couple of years, just haven't read them in several months.

I don't have the non-graphic books nor the two more recent graphic EQ books. I think it's two, not sure bout that though.

Ah okay, cool! I haven't bought any of the manga-sized B&W's, since I have older color editions of the best of the graphic novels and haven't ever felt the need to buy them in a smaller, B&W form. I've periodically toyed with getting those manga-sized books to cover some of the things I haven't got in graphic novel form, but it's been no more than a vague impulse. The one EQ I've bought at all in several years was The Searcher and the Sword, and I may or may not get a graphic novel when they put one out for Discovery. I'll have to see.

There are only a few non-graphical EQ books... they haven't put any more novelizations out since the one they did for Siege at Blue Mountain, and there haven't been any new Blood of Ten Chiefs in ages. So any of the EQ books you're going to find will be graphical.
