Did you see this little nugget in the March 9th items up on Murph's Place? A purely rumor-y sort of tidbit, but a very interesting tidbit nonetheless! This is me over here going "oh please oh please oh please YES YES YES" at any HINT of a breath of a rumor of an M&C sequel. :D

Sign on San Diego: Star watch (Scroll) -- "When actor Russell Crowe makes a Surprise visit – well, take it literally. He unexpectedly popped aboard the HMS Surprise yesterday morning at its San Diego Maritime Museum dock. Crowe captained the ship for the movie “Master and Commander,” filmed in Baja. 20th Century Fox later sold the boat to the museum with the caveat that it could be borrowed for a sequel. Al Sorkin, a museum employee who portrayed Crowe's master at arms in the film, happened to be there when Crowe appeared, and he led the actor and several of his band members (here to perform at the House of Blues) on an impromptu tour. There was a definite hint that a sequel might be in the works. Crowe was overheard saying he might soon need to borrow Sorkin for about six months. For the record, contrary to his hot-tempered image, Crowe was reported as gracious and polite, although he did invest in some pirate-themed T-shirts with such sayings as: “The flogging will continue until morale improves” ... - Thanks, Steph

Cool! One of the ones where Maturin plays spy might be fun....

Last year was really fun, two good sailing flicks in one year... and the sequel to the other one is Coming Soon.... Jack is Back! (I knew that damned monkey was gonna get us all in trouble!)

(Although you shoulda seen the look on [livejournal.com profile] lisakit's face when they club-hauled Interceptor... fortunately it was a good fake and not a real club-haul; that's really HARD on a ship....)

'course, it occurs to me that this may all have nothing to do with sailing at all and everything to do with Russel Crowe, but ah, well.

Umm, yes? :)

Well, you'll be happy to know that even if Jack Aubrey ends up stuck in drydock, your hero will be playing an English noble later this year, and an American gangster next year, thus sayeth IMDB...
