SNOW! Place yer bets!
Nov. 28th, 2005 11:25 amHowever, weather.com seems to think we'll be getting some snow tonight. Look here for the details--and while I'm half-inclined to believe that we won't get any snow at all, better safe than sorry, folks. Take care with your commutes today and tomorrow!
Snow Advisory from the National Weather Service:

...ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL POSSIBLE FOR THE LOWLANDS OF WESTERN WASHINGTON TONIGHT AND TUEDAY MORNING...
ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL IS POSSIBLE FOR THE LOWLANDS OF WESTERN WASHINGTON THIS EVENING AND CONTINUING INTO TUESDAY MORNING. THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO MAKE THE TUESDAY MORNING COMMUTE DIFFICULT. THERE IS STILL A BIT OF UNCERTAINTY REGARDING SEVERAL ASPECTS OF THIS DEVELOPING STORM SYSTEM. THE LOCATION...DURATION AND AMOUNT OF SNOWFALL WILL DEPEND HEAVILY ON THE FUTURE TRACK AND STRENGTH OF SEVERAL FEATURES OF THE APPROACHING WEATHER SYSTEM.
THE MOST LIKELY SCENARIO AT THIS TIME IS THAT THE HOOD CANAL...KITSAP AND MASON COUNTY AREA IS THE LIKELIEST CANDIDATE FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL. THE SNOW IN THIS AREA IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN THIS EVENING AND CONTINUE OFF AND ON INTO THE NIGHT. AN INCH OR SO IS POSSIBLE NEAR SEA-LEVEL WHERE IT WILL BE MIXED WITH RAIN AT TIMES...WHILE 4 INCHES OR MORE IS POSSIBLE ABOVE 500 FEET IN ELEVATION. THE WESTERN CASCADES FOOTHILLS AND THE SEATTLE...BELLEVUE...EVERETT METRO AREA MAY RECEIVE 1 OR 2 INCHES OF SNOW...BUT MAINLY AFTER MIDNIGHT AS EASTERLY LOW LEVEL WINDS WILL KEEP THE PRECIPITATION LIGHT AND IN THE FORM OF RAIN UNTIL THEN. THE REMAINDER OF WESTERN WASHINGTON EXCEPT THE CENTRAL COAST HAS THE POSSIBILITY OF RECEIVING 1 TO 3 INCHES OF SNOW. RAIN SHOULD FALL OVER THE CENTRAL COAST WITH A MIX OF SNOW AND RAIN OVER THE NORTH COAST.
IT IS LIKELY THAT WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES MAY BE ISSUED FOR PORTIONS OF WESTERN WASHINGTON LATER TODAY.

Date: 2005-11-28 07:33 pm (UTC)We still have snow here from Thanksgiving Eve, but it's melting today, despite the grey/fog.
The weirdest thing to get used to is... it's not a big deal here. No real advisories, nothing on the news about how long it will stay around or anything... I guess I've got to get used to that! :)
*hugs*
But SNOW!

Date: 2005-11-28 08:12 pm (UTC)Of course, we have snow tires. Some of the people who visit, don't. I don't salt the driveway in case the JeHos come to visit. "I didn't invite you, it's not my fault you fell on your ass!"

Date: 2005-11-28 10:24 pm (UTC)But yeah, 400' vs. 200' is enough to matter. Plus we're further enough north that it matters, too.

Date: 2005-11-28 10:34 pm (UTC)I love snow. I don't know if I could live in a place that didn't get snow.

Date: 2005-11-28 10:46 pm (UTC)I wouldn't mind some snow as long as it doesn't impede my trip to DC on Wednesday. :)

Date: 2005-11-29 01:37 am (UTC)I'm pretty sure that if we get any snow at all overnight it should be gone by Wednesday. Even when we do get snow around here, it's almost always pretty short-lived!

Date: 2005-11-29 01:39 am (UTC)It actually snows in November fairly frequently here, or at least has in the past. I remember many snowfalls--usually very light and not enough to stick--on or around my birthday in mid-month. At least half a dozen times that I can remember, and probably more. I guess we're overdue.

Date: 2005-11-29 01:53 am (UTC)Quoted from here. I'm not terribly interested in downloading something that's going to sling me a bunch of ads along with weather reports, especially when I can go get the data I want for free from other sources.
But thanks for the suggestion. :)

Date: 2005-11-29 01:59 am (UTC)That said, I don't think we get enough snow in the Seattle metropolitan area regardless. ;) There are other great aspects of our local weather that help make up for that, but I'd still like to have more snow!

Date: 2005-11-29 02:07 am (UTC)And I expect that a non-salted driveway is a good way to keep undesirables away from one's door, yes. ;)

Date: 2005-11-29 07:16 am (UTC)yes, but it also makes it dangerous for wanted folks (like the mail carrier). We have a city by-law indicating we MUST shovel a path on our driveway and our sidewalks for the posties (or at least my parents always said that it was a bylaw requirement).

Date: 2005-12-05 05:28 am (UTC)We actually salted the steps last night, since they froze over in interesting and disturbing fashions, and we didn't want the pizza chick to break her neck bringing us dinner!
