GBS and Alan Doyle on NPR!
Nov. 14th, 2005 05:08 pmThey just did a segment on Great Big Sea and the new album, The Hard and the Easy, on "All Things Considered" on NPR! I wasn't even paying attention to the radio;
solarbird was the one who noticed it first, and she waved at me to get my attention. When I heard the announcer say the words "Alan Doyle" and a very familiar Newfoundland accent beginning to speak, I perked up right quick!
(Hee, every time I hear one of the members of Great Big Sea saying something, I notice new details about their accents. Alan says "southwest" as "sout'west". I love it. I love it so. ^_^)
Anyway, the segment was short--focusing on my favorite song off the album, "The River Driver". They played snippets of the song, interspersed between snippets of Alan talking about the song and the story it tells. But it was incredibly cool to hear GBS mentioned on NPR, regardless! Yay, exposure on national radio for GBS!
If you didn't happen to catch it and you're interested in hearing the snippet, you can find it up on npr.org right here!
