Well, [livejournal.com profile] ravyngyngvar made it safely in yesterday, though his first night visiting the Murkworks was fairly low-key. He shared with us a bunch of chocolate and other snacks and gifts that he had kindly brought, including a pack of three CDs of a bunch of BBC appearances of Douglas Adams', chronicling much of his life and various interests. We got partway into that, and it's been fun to listen to. We kept the evening pretty low-key since Yngvar had to adjust to local time, though--nine hours of time zone difference makes for a lot of jet lag to overcome.

Today, though, we got to be a bit more touristy. After Yngvar showed us some neat Norwegian graphic novels, we took [livejournal.com profile] spazzkat up on his clever suggestion that we go out and see the Science Fiction Museum, which neither [livejournal.com profile] solarbird nor I had visited before. We hit the 522 to head downtown for that, and spent some pleasant time wandering through the SFM, looking at all the neat things they had on display.

I think what really rather impressed me the most were some of the old manuscripts by various authors--especially the handwritten and hand-corrected ones. It amuses me to fantasize about whether any of my old manuscripts will be anywhere near as interesting someday. But there were other cool things as well, like various costumes and props from old TV shows and movies, some of which were in stunningly pristine condition, like a Captain Marvel costume from the 40's.

After that we went up to the top of the Space Needle, since it was right there, and let Yngvar get the obligatory view. It was cold and windy and damp up there, so I fled inside for a hot chocolate and a brownie, but both Yngvar and Dara got some pictures. The one pity is that Mount Rainier wasn't visible today thanks to the weather.

Much of tomorrow is going to get eaten by my job interviews--both face-to-face and by phone. So there will be minimal touristy time tomorrow, unless Yngvar gets adventurous and ventures out without me. ;) But we'll be doing the Seattle Underground Tour soon as well!
