Insult and injury

Insult: a Monster.com email chock full of jobs I can't really apply for because either I do not have the proper qualifications, or else they want me to work in places that are Not Seattle Or Parts Nearby, in which category, alas, Calgary does not qualify.

Injury: this mail coming with a couple of those annoying Vonage.com ads that talk about how their phone service requires "no nerds". I get the point of these ads--i.e., that their phone service installation is supposed to be so easy that you don't need a nerd or a geek to help you do it--but the way they choose to phrase it is extra-special annoying to someone who has self-identified as a nerd and a geek most of her life. I.e., little stereotypical 'nerd' pictures on the ads, and the words "NO NERDS" in large letters.

Love you too, Vonage. And extra birds flipped to Monster for juxtaposing these ads with a mail being sent to a NERD for NERDY COMPUTER POSITIONS. Grr.

(Ahem. Sorry, folks, I had to get that out of my system. We now return you to the I Have a New Great Big Sea Album squee, already in progress!)

Yeah, you'd think Monster would know that NERDS are their TARGET AUDIENCE...

...and they keep sending me jobs in OHIO and stuff.

On the more positive side, most of my spam lately has been for stock tips, rather than Viagra and Grow Your Penis, so I guess I'm moving up in the world.

What always amuses me more than the emails are the recruiters who find your resume and then actually CALL YOU but apparently forgot to look at the part where you put 'not interested in relocating' in the settings but they still ask you anyway if you want to take on a contract in, say, VIRGINIA.

I haven't gotten any stock tip spam lately! I'm jealous! ;)
