I was going to make the GBS podcast my reward for getting writing done tonight, but as I am a helpless, willpower-less fangirl, and also because [livejournal.com profile] ssha was going through it and posing about it on my MUSH, I could not resist the siren call of the B'ys in my headphones. And since I have no actual album to listen to yet, hey!

Favorite quotes:

"Why don't we all just get in the bathtub and relax?"
"All beer with animals on it is better beer."
"Insects have lungs, man. They just don't have noses!"
"There's a million interviews going to happen in the next two or three weeks." "Let's get our story straight!"
"How many Great Big Sea records do you need?" (Well, DUH. ALL OF THEM, of course.)

Other funny bits:

The countdown sounded like somebody swooning. Probably all us fangirly fangirls out here listening to this thing.

Hoo, Battlestar Galactica mention out of Sean, as he tries to address the question of what the heck a podcast is. Wonder if he actually watches the new BSG, or if he's thinking of the old one.

The bleepy noises bleeping out all of the cussing sound like somebody squeaking and gasping in shock at every swear word. And goodness gracious, does The Doyle kiss his mother with that mouth? ;) [livejournal.com profile] ssha and I are wondering whether a certain Aussie actor is having an influence on Alan's language, or whether Alan swore like a sailor before he ever met up with his boyfriend his current favorite musical collaborator.

I want to hear more of that lobster ditty!

Very distracting to hear bits of the album under their conversation, though! I keep trying to listen to 'em singing. ;) Hell, who am I kidding? I had a hard time focusing on what they were saying, just because aie, accents! So! Pretty! I could listen to these men reading the phone book. Clearly, I will have to listen to this thing seven or eight thousand times just to get all of what they say on it!

Very cool to hear that the incident in "Concerning Charlie Horse" actually happened, and that the Jakey in "Jakey's Gin" is real.

And oh yes, I was very impressed by how much Bob pretty much dominated this thing. It's always so startling to hear Bob talk since he never engages in the banter on stage, but lets his instruments do the talking for him. But when I watched all the interviewy bits of the Great Big DVD I was impressed at how articulate and intelligent he was, and that impression is certainly upheld here. He's definitely the one of the three with whom I'd most love to have a substantial conversation.

They talk about doing more of these in the future! I'm there!
