Today I will be taken out to lunch by way of a bye-bye from my team. That'll be nice. I got asked where I wanted to go, and chose Red Robin; I'm not particularly choosy when it comes to food, and I've been craving a good hamburger and a milkshake anyway.

Courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] solarbird, I have now learned that according to current polls, Dubya's approval ratings are falling farther and farther down the toilet. And just to give you an indicator of exactly how far his approval has fallen, apparently even ANN COULTER has started complaining about his selection of Harriet Miers for the Supreme Court. (I'm not linking to her, so if you want to go find any articles about it, go you now and Google.) Not that I'm terribly thrilled with the idea of yet another round of cronyism out of the Shrub, nor with the lack of any experience that can give the American people any hint about what kind of a judge she'd make (and I have been advised, yes, that lack of prior judicial experience hasn't necessarily meant someone will be a bad judge, e.g., Rehnquist). But, to borrow a word from [livejournal.com profile] kathrynt, I am whomperjawed that the likes of Ann Coulter would actually be complaining about this, the sorts of people who I would expect to be the LAST ones taking issue with anything he does.

I am told by my endoc that I am NOT to up my dosage of Synthroid yet, as she needs me at my current dosage for a little longer before she decides what to do. I am to go in to have my levels checked on the 24th, and see her as previously scheduled on the 31st. Meh.

Oh, and y'all say hi to [livejournal.com profile] stickmaker, who finally got himself an LJ. He hangs out a lot with [livejournal.com profile] solarbird and me on our MUSH; we know him from the Kentucky fandom crowd. Say hi to [livejournal.com profile] rosepurr while you're at it, who is also out of the Kentucky fandom crowd.

Thanks for adding me!!

Actually, Coulter complained bitterly about the Roberts nomination too. She said she thought that given the strength of conservative backing he should have picked someone more hardline. *pauses to thank the stars that Coulter is not actually in office.*

Bush promised to pick Justices that are in the mold of Scalia and Thomas. From the perspective of an extreme righty, Meiers' and Roberts' low-key nature doesn't reveal anything of the sort. Of course, they're probably wolves in sheep's clothing...
