Post-Serenity afterglow, take two!

First up, let me send out a HIYA! to
tigrelisfleur, who joins my Friends list out of Great Big Sea fandom (and specifically off of
greatbigsea), and who also shares my affection for Battlestar Galactica and Russell Crowe.
arthur_denger is an old, old friend of both mine and
solarbird's, out of the original Kentucky crowd that got me into SF/F fandom in the first place.
And, Tuesday. This morning I actually have work to do, which is a bit of a shocker, given how many days lately we haven't had testable builds. We'll see if this keeps up through the week. It'd be nice to have another full paycheck again. Especially since as of today, I have two weeks left on this contract.
Last night Dara and I went to see the local Serenity preview at the Oak Tree Cinemas, where we met up with
mamishka and
aerialscribe. It wasn't actually a planned group effort, since Dara and I expected not to get in due to the event being overbooked--but happily, once we got there, we discovered that they'd changed which screen they were using to accommodate the larger-than-expected crowd. And, Meems and Jeff got there early enough that they actually got in before the line officially formed--so they saved us good seats. Also, Meems won a prize for successfully answering one of the trivia questions asked before the film, though we don't know what she got yet since she has to go by the SF museum (I believe, since they were one of the sponsors) and pick up the item in question.
The film itself held up quite splendidly for me a second time around. I didn't notice too much different, except that this time there were actual credits and more music. It was definitely cool to see it with a big crowd, many of whom were established fans, but some of whom weren't--and as Meems has posted over on her journal, after the movie was over she chatted with this one guy who hadn't seen any of the show at all and yet found the movie perfectly easy to follow. So that bodes well for people who haven't seen the show yet to be able to enjoy the movie!
In other news, as per the recommendation of the vet, I've had to double the daily thyroid meds for my cat. And as per Meems' clever recommendation, I've started giving Polly her meds mixed in with a spoonful of wet cat food. This has gone over well with the cat. EXTREMELY well. In fact, she's started hanging out in her "treat spot" in the kitchen, around the times I give her her meds, demanding her new treat with even more vigor than she has historically demanded her usual treats. And, if given her usual treats, she does still eat them--but hangs around asking for the wet cat food too. ;)
Tonight: more writing, and fish dinner with
spazzkat!
