One-girl cast of African Queen
Aug. 26th, 2005 11:03 amThis one looked like fun, and if nothing else it reminded me that I need to get going on watching me some Steele!
Humphrey Bogart You scored 64% Tough, 0% Roguish, 38% Friendly, and 0% Charming! |
You're the original man of honor, rough and tough but willing to stick your neck out when you need to, despite what you might say to the contrary. You're a complex character full of spit and vinegar, but with a soft heart and a tender streak that you try to hide. There's usually a complicated dame in the picture, someone who sees the real you behind all the tough talk and can dish it out as well as you can. You're not easy to get next to, but when you find the right partner, you're caring and loyal to a fault. A big fault. But you take it on the chin and move on, nursing your pain inside and maintaining your armor...until the next dame walks in. Or possibly the same dame, and of all the gin joints in all the world, it had to be yours. Co-stars include Ingrid Bergman and Lauren Bacall, hot chicks with problems.

Katharine Hepburn You scored 11% grit, 9% wit, 61% flair, and 28% class! |
You are the fabulously quirky and independent woman of character. You go your own way, follow your own drummer, take your own lead. You stand head and shoulders next to your partner, but you are perfectly willing and able to stand alone. Others might be more classically beautiful or conventionally woman-like, but you possess a more fundamental common sense and off-kilter charm, making interesting men fall at your feet. You can pick them up or leave them there as you see fit. You share the screen with the likes of Spencer Tracy and Cary Grant, thinking men who like strong women.

Date: 2005-08-27 04:06 pm (UTC)Whoot, Jimmy Stewart! He doesn't do anything for me hormonally but he is definitely fun to watch. :)

Date: 2005-08-27 04:09 pm (UTC)I have seen... very little Katharine Hepburn, I think! I'm mostly amused by that result because of having seen Cate Blanchett play her in The Aviator not too long ago, and she did a spookily good job. (Also, I think Cate Blanchett is a babe anyway, so!)

Date: 2005-08-27 05:44 pm (UTC)As for the other test, I find it hard enough to answer these quizzes honestly without having to pretend to be a dame.

Date: 2005-08-27 05:48 pm (UTC)Hee. Half the time when I answer these quizzes, I have to punt to whatever answer I like the best, whether or not it's actually pertinent to what I'd do. A lot of the time it's so obvious which potential result is connected to which answer that it's almost not worth the trouble. This pair of quizzes, at least, was better at that than most. And better spelled as well. :)

Date: 2005-08-28 03:08 am (UTC)I came to respect both Ms. Blanchett as an actress and Ms. Hepburn as a person all the more after The Aviator, indeed.

Date: 2005-08-30 04:23 pm (UTC)I missed The Aviator when it ran in the theatres. I get too tired after work these days. I'll probably rent it one of these days, unless you'd recommend buying it right away. However, I always felt that Cate Blanchett was an excellent choice to play Katharine Hepburn.
But I must say that I was pretty freaked out by her role in The Shipping News. I didn't realize that it was Cate Blanchett until I read the credits.

Date: 2005-08-31 03:10 pm (UTC)Right, I'd forgotten she was in The Shipping News! I never saw the movie version, though I've heard via GBS fandom that the movie treatment is actually better than the book, since the book is annoyingly stereotypical in many ways in how it depicts Newfoundlanders. I've read the thing, and even aside from its treatment of Newfoundlanders, the prose annoyed me endlessly as a good eighty percent of it was sentence fragments. I kept wanting to smack the author around and yell, "For God's sake, woman, get some VERBS!"
Also, the movie soundtrack does actually feature GBS songs, so it gets points for that, too. ^_^
