And without further ado, from our Home Office in Kenmore, Washington, the Top Five Reasons Whyannathepiper is a Dork:
5. Despite the fact that she is no longer 13 years old, she still adores Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and is quite put out that Lost in Space has made it to DVD while Voyage has not. She was ridiculously amused by Gypsy's frequent chantings of "Richard Basehart! Richard Basehart!" on Mystery Science Theater 3000 the first time she saw it and giggles every time she sees it to this day. She has occasionally snuck around the web in search of Voyage fanfic, and even before she knew what Mary Sues and fanfic were, once started to try to write a total Mary Sue Voyage fic (which, fortunately, does not survive in any form to this day), determined to set right the absolute lack of any female officers on board the Seaview. Asked to comment upon this, she remarked, "What can I say? I thought David Hedison was a babe even if he did have an unfortunate propensity for crawling around in ridiculously huge air vents." Also, she is miffed that she cannot add "voyage to the bottom of the sea" to her LJ interests list, due to the four-word limit of same, and she thinks workarounds such as "voyage_to_the_bottom_of_the_sea" are inadequate, because there's a PRINCIPLE here!
4. She actually gets a large glow of intellectual challenge and satisfaction out of the thought of completely overhauling her web page just so she can teach herself XML. The fact that she currently does not have any new content to add to her web page and in fact plans to remove quite a bit of the current content does not appear to be stopping her in the slightest. She persuades herself that she can spend the time because it'll look good on her resume if she knows XML, since she is, after all, paid to be a computer dork.
3. She is in possession of arguably one of the biggest archives of MUSH roleplay logs on the Net, spanning her entire RP career from 1992 clear up through 2003 and over half a dozen MUSHes. And she taught herself how to use PHP and mySQL just to make a database to organize them all on the web. As she plans to mine quite a few of her MUSH characters for novel fodder, she convinces herself that it's a huge collection of cookies for her muse. Mmmmmmmmm, cookies.

Handsome, brawny Australian actors armed with guitars and half-decent voices are scientifically proven to cause her to swoon, especially when paired with even more handsome guitar-wielding Newfoundlanders with even better voices. Relatedly, she is also miffed that she cannot add "30 odd foot of grunts" to her LJ interests list (see previous commentary re: four-word limits).
